Every deposition that runs smoothly, every transcript that lands on time, and every client who trusts Remote Legal to get it right depends on people working behind the scenes to make it happen. In honor of Women’s Equality Day, we sat down with three of our very own: Allison Jansen, VP of Client Success; Candice Green, Operations Manager; and Hemangi Parekh, Senior Scrum Master. Each leads a different part of the business, but their conversations circled back to the same themes: building trust, staying curious, and lifting up the people around them.
Here’s what they had to say.
Allison Jansen, VP of Client Success
Allison has spent her career building client success, account management, and onboarding teams at early-stage tech companies, and she brought that experience to Remote Legal a little over three months ago. Her focus is making sure clients get real value out of the partnership, not just a smoothly running account.
“Our primary job is to ensure that Remote Legal clients consistently see value in our partnership and what we’re able to provide for their business,” she explains. “That might mean showing a client how quick access to a rough draft can speed up a settlement, or how video clips created in the platform can strengthen a case later in trial.”
A common misconception about her role, she says, is that client success is just a friendlier name for support. In reality, her team acts as a strategic partner. That means asking clients what they’re actually trying to accomplish, sometimes challenging how they use the platform today, and bringing ideas to the table rather than only reacting to requests. It’s a relationship built on trust, and the payoff is that clients reach their goals more efficiently while Remote Legal grows alongside them.
Her advice for women early in their careers centers on data and confidence. Allison has found that leading with data rather than intuition is the fastest way to earn trust, especially before you have a long track record to point to. She’s candid that it’s okay not to have everything figured out. “Give yourself permission not to have it all figured out,” she says. “If you’re open to learning something new every day and letting the client’s goals and success guide your reasoning, you will do well.”
Candice Green, Operations Manager
Candice’s path to Remote Legal ran through the courtroom itself. Trained as a paralegal, she spent nearly five years working as a court reporter before moving into deposition management and, eventually, into training and hiring reporters. Today, as Operations Manager for the reporting team, she focuses on process improvement and technology, but at the core of her job is making sure court reporters feel prepared and confident in the room.
People often assume her role is mostly about fixing problems and putting out fires, and while that’s part of it, Candice sees her job differently. “The way I view my job is kind of like the relationships that we’re building,” she says. Court reporters are talented, independent professionals, and her role is to make sure they feel supported, to push them toward their best work, and to advocate for the integrity of what they do, both inside the company and with clients who may not fully understand what goes into producing a reliable transcript.
That people-first approach comes from her father, who spent years in corporate management. His advice stuck with her: take care of your team, and they’ll do the best work for you. “Managing is really a people skill,” Candice says. “It’s really about how well you can communicate with people in a way that they can understand and also motivate them to do their best work.”
When it comes to supporting other women in the field, Candice looks for informal moments to connect, not just the scheduled check-ins that come up naturally when questions arise. She’s also intentional about balancing feedback, making sure she’s as vocal about what’s going well as she is direct about what needs to improve. And she doesn’t shy away from admitting when she doesn’t know something. “I try to be open about the mistakes I’ve made as well,” she says. That honesty, she’s found, builds connections and opens the door to real mentorship.
Hemangi Parekh, Senior Scrum Master
Hemangi’s role sits at the intersection of process and people. As Senior Scrum Master, she helps the technology and product teams work effectively, embrace Agile principles, and remove the obstacles that get in the way of delivering value to Remote Legal’s customers.
A typical day starts with reviewing sprint goals and potential blockers, facilitating Daily Scrum meetings, and supporting backlog refinement. However, her role goes well beyond running meetings. She spends time coaching team members on Agile practices, aligning priorities across teams, and helping foster an environment where teams can be self-organized and successful.
That’s also the biggest misconception she runs into. “People often think Scrum Masters are meeting facilitators,” she says. “In reality, we’re coaches and servant leaders who help teams work better together, overcome challenges, and continuously improve their ways of working.” Her recent move from Scrum Master to Senior Scrum Master has widened that impact, giving her the chance to strengthen Agile practices across the whole organization rather than just within individual teams.
For Hemangi, the most rewarding part of the job is the variety. Whether she’s facilitating a stand-up, mentoring a team member, or analyzing delivery metrics, the goal is always the same: helping teams do their best work and keep improving.
Building a Team Worth Celebrating
Allison, Candice, and Hemangi work in different corners of Remote Legal, but their perspectives point to the same values: earning trust through consistency, leading with empathy, and staying open to learning something new every day. Their approaches to leadership, whether with clients, court reporters, or engineering teams, are a big part of why Remote Legal can deliver the reliable, accurate depositions our clients count on.
This Women’s Equality Day, we’re proud to celebrate the women driving that work forward, not just as women in the industry, but as leaders, mentors, and professionals shaping what better depositions look like.
